Carving Workshops

CABR 93-4 Basic Relief Carving
Learn how to use carving tools to carve a beautiful decorative rosette. 4 hours.
Prerequisites: A Desire to learn. Fee $ 80.00 ( includes wood block, and lab fee)

CARR 93-5 Carving in the round
Learn how to transform a pattern into a carved piece. Using a band saw cut the pattern into a rough block and then carve it. Student can choose to carve in wood or soap stone. Student may bring own tools and block of wood or stone. 6 hours.
Prerequisites: A Desire to learn. ( Basic relief is useful) Fee $ 120.00 ( includes lab fee) plus cost of stone or block of wood, if required.

CARR 93-6 Advanced Carving
Bring your tools and carving project to StudioLiv and work under the watchful eye of Liv Babra. 6 hours.
Prerequisites: Carving in the round or similar experience. Fee $ 120.00 ( includes lab fee) plus cost of stone or block of wood, if required.

CARR 93-7 Carving Large Sculptures
Using audio visual and other aids, this seminar series covers aspects of carving a large sculpture from a concept to a finished piece. Bring your large carvings or pictures for discussion and problem solving. Class is held outdoors weather permitting. 3 hours.
Prerequisites: Carving in the round or similar experience. Fee $ 60.00

Sculpting Workshops

SCUL 93-8 Basic Sculpting
Using Oil based clay learn the art of additive sculpting. Convert your concept into three dimensions that can be used as a final maquette for carving in wood or forming in plaster. 5 hours.
No Prerequisites: Fee $ 100.00 ( includes lab fee) plus cost of clay.

Stone Carving Workshops

SCUL 93-9 Basic Stone carving

SCUL 93-10 Intermediate Stone carving
Learn how to carve a face in stone. Soap stone or Alabaster is used.
No Prerequisites: Fee $ 100.00 ( includes lab fee) plus cost of stone

SCUL 93-11 Advanced Stone carving
Learn how to use pneumatic tools to carve stone. Hard soap stone or Alabaster is used. 4 hours.
Prerequisites: Intermediate stone carving Fee $ 100.00 ( includes lab fee) plus cost of stone.

Artifacts in Action Workshops

PTMB 93-1 Pen Turning MT Blanc style
Learn how to cut and drill wood to craft it into a fine writing instrument using a small lathe. 3 Hours.
Prerequisites: A Desire to learn. Fee $ 70.00 ( includes wood block, pen kit and lab fee)

PTP 93-2 Pencil Turning
Learn how to cut and drill wood to craft it into a fine writing instrument using a small lathe. 3 hours.
